Carmel Farmer's Market

Farmer's Markets provide a wide range of benefits, not only to farmers, but also to local businesses and the community.

Farmers receive the benefit of being able to establish their local "fresh" brand and to receive a greater percentage of the price to customer than is achieved in the standard retail approach.

Other businesses in the area can benefit from increased trade as a result of people coming into the area to visit the market who then stay in the area for an extended time to enjoy the other benefits that the area has to offer.

For the community, a market provides a central meeting place, an opportunity to showcase local talent (for example live entertainment, arts and craft) and an opportunity for not-for-profit organisations to raise funds through the provision of food stalls.

FOTE is working towards the establishment of a Farmer's Market at the Carmel Adventist College. This venue ticks all the right boxes in that it provides:

  • ample, sealed parking;
  • access to power and water;
  • toilet facilities;
  • a beautiful, natural environment to enhance the attraction of the event;
  • an established facility;
  • the possibility of under-cover areas in the event on inclement weather;
  • a supportive administration.
