Friends Of Poison Gully West
Year 6/7 from Edney Primary School were involved in the revegetation of Poison Gully West. Each week in fine weather students visited the location to make observations and tend to the protection of the area. When not visiting, students involved themselves, under the direction of the teacher, in related school based projects such as the preparation of the exhibition for the Royal Show, the preparation for the radio interviews that occurred at Kalamunda Radio and 6PR and activities linked to literacy, numeracy, science and other learning areas.
CALM was involved with the class and attended on site teaching students to identify various bush species.
There was a keen interest in this project from senior members of Government and information from this project became part of government studies. The media attended on several occasions demonstrating the degree of interest amongst the local and wider community.
