Welcome to the youngest audience of FOTE, our KAPOW groups. Currently we have over a dozen participating schools all connecting their kids together for rich activites across their schools. To get your school involved drop us a line on the Contact Us page.
How it works
A small group of students (one from each of Year's 5, 6 and 7) represent your school at regular interschool meetings. One meeting per term is ideal. Topics are discussed that interest those attending and common projects are shared. The potential for cooperation is immense as is the real-world application of students' knowledge to worthwhile activities. This is a great start to having annual events celebrating sustainable practices across schools in a local area. It also provides the school community with drive from children to continue sustainability efforts, even if teachers and administration change over time.
Methods for selecting students can be different from school to school. Either by invitation, as a reward or student representatives can be voted in, at the end of the school year prior. It is a good idea to usually have a deputy in each year as well. These children then become leaders in their own right spearheading initiatives in and across year groups. It is a great way to reward and provide opportunity to those kids that might not normally get robust leadership experience.
FOTE is all about looking after our environment and our communities to ensure that future generations - YOU - can enjoy lives that are free from pollution, environmental damage and unfairness.
In this section of our website, we provide access to a range of great links and fun activities to help you learn more about what we can all do to achieve this.

KAPOW! Kids About Protecting Our World! has begun to take shape. The junior version of FOTE Inc. is now off and running across 6 Perth metro schools. Each term three representative children from each school (yrs. 5, 6 and 7) meet to discuss their school's approach to sustainability issues and common projects we can all get involved in. We have chosen those year levels so that when they move up a year the 7's will take KAPOW to high school and the new 6/7's take on the evolving leadership role. Current projects involve the Pumpkin Growing Competition, logo design and Poster Competition. Well done kids!
