KAPOW!

Since late last year the brain child of Derrick Ernst (Principal Dawson Park PS) to create and nurture a children's FOTE group has solidified. Our first meeting for 2009 was attended by children and teachers from 4 schools.

Project 1

Giant pumpkin growing: a seriously large pumpkin was presented at the meeting grown by children from Forrestdale PS. It was approximately 30 cm across. So the competition is on in earnest and the bar has been set. (Now if only we could get ours to pollinate! Richard)

Project 2

A name. Children shortlisted 4 names from a selection of 20 they had generated since our last meeting. Votes were then cast and KAPOW or Kids About Protecting Our World was chosen to represent Jnr Fote.

Projects 3 & 4

KAPOW now needs a logo and schools have 2 weeks to submit their ideas. Subsequent to the logo being developed we will be running a poster competition. Templates for the posters will be distributed including our new logo in the bottom right hand corner. Details about the competition will be distributed with the template to all FOTE Inc. mailing list recipients. Judging will be held prior to the Kalamunda Harvest Festival in May and the winner announced on the day.

Well done kids,
